Interactive Periodic Table

From the Big Bang to Dangerous Goods Transport

Colours show a simplified primary cosmic origin. Many elements have more than one source.

HOW TO READ THIS TABLE

One element, several possible stories

Cosmic origin is simplified. Several processes may contribute to the natural abundance of an element. The table highlights a representative primary source for learning.

UN links are curated. They include the element itself and selected commonly transported compounds—not every substance containing that element.

This is not classification. An element-to-entry association does not establish that a product is dangerous goods. Composition, form, concentration and applicable IMDG Code provisions must be checked.

Reference basis: element names and symbols follow IUPAC; cosmic origins are simplified from NASA's Origins of the Elements visualization; transport entries are curated from the IMDG Code, Amendment 42-24. Common-compound links are representative, not exhaustive.
